My son loved this and so did we! You dont have to worry about the ants getting out, I suggest buying the light that goes underneath though, that way you can really see what is going on. We are ordering another one, it has been over two years and he still hasnt forgotten it.

Though its cool for about 3 weeks, the ants start dying within the tunnels and then the gel starts to mold. Within a couple of days the ants are all dead and you have a gross moldy mess. You cant buy more gel so now you just have an expensive piece of plastic. Save your money, fill a glass jar with sand and voila, ant farm!

i loved this product..... ....but then i found out that the ants did not come with it so i didnt really care.But they didnt come for six months and the ants only lived for about, 3 months. dont buy it if you want it to last long.

I gave this to my son for his 6th birthday and he loves it. He checks every morning and as soon as he gets home from school to see if the ants have done anything new. It was a little tricky getting the ants into their habitat without any escaping, but they began tunneling the very first night and havent stopped since. They are fascinating to watch. This is a great gift!

THIS IS SO COOL!! We bought this for my 6yr old son at chirtsmas and the whole family is fascinated with it. Once we got the ants it took less than 24hrs for them to start making tunnels.

Excellent product. My 6 year old daughter is fascinatedby the ants and the activity. Ordered the ants in December without rush shipping and had no problems. Its a new thrill each morning to see the tunneling that has gone on during the night!

My son got this for his 6th birthday and LOVES it. We have it on his dresser and he and his brother (3) are excited to check it each morning. Our ants started digging within the first 3 hours and havent stopped since. Yes, the ants eventually die but you can get new ones. That is just the life of the ants. For those of you that had a lot of dead ants when they arrived, there is an option to get them sent faster so they are guaranteed in the cold months. Id recommend this to any kid.

Got this for my 4yr old daughter for Christmas. When I received the farm, I thought it was a bit small but it was plenty. I ordered my ants off ebay so that I would have them when she opened the ant farm. Within 24 hrs that started to tunnel. We all race downstairs in the morning to see the progress they made. This is a great product and will probably re-order

The habitat itself is nice. I think it,s a shame that the ant order is price separately. When selling this product customers needs to know that they need to pay for the shipping of ants. Im informing customers that you only get the habitat;ants arent included unless you pay to have them mailed.

Read the directions and you will have a thriving ant colony that is awesome to have and watch. I got 2 farms for each of my boys. They love it. Great gift. We ordered the ants and did not purchase the insurance that ants would arrive alive. This was no problem. After putting them into a bowl for some air, we got the ant farms ready for them. Within 10 mi. all ant were very active and all alive.

Got this last year for my daughter. Easy to set up and we got the ants after several weeks, but half were dead and they only lived a short time. Not the best gift since ants keep dying and once you seal it shut you just keep seeing the dead bodies!

This was a Christmas gift last year. We loved it! The ants were easy to order. My kids were fascinated with each new tunnel. Ants lived a solid six months. Great gift!

This is an excellent product! We had this for months and always something new was happening in this ant habitat. The kids would always check on the ants to see what new tunnels had been made. Even would be a great gift for adults. Very Clever Idea!!

My son was a little anxious waiting for he ants which took forever even though i live in So. Cal. Most ants arrived alive but did not dig a single tunnel themselves and then died within 2 weeks. My son was happy to see the ants for the brief time that he had them but I was disappointed in their performance.
