As a geography instructor, I found the shows a refreshing change from ordinary travelogues. They present many of todays issues - globalization, environment, pop culture v. traditions - through the unique lenses of real people in real (not tourist) places in the world.

I have viewed China and Australia. Likelly will not view the others. I found these porgrams to be shallow, superficial and based on very limited exposure of four or five entities in each episode. I have the distinct feeling that the China program wa pretty much laid out by China, it avoids the industrial corridors, things like the controversial Three Gorges Dam. The focus seemed to be on a very talented and cute olympic gymnast and a guy who had to leave his family to wash windows in Shanghai.

Got the bluray DVD version. Superb video and audio quality. I hope Discovery makes more of the series going to different countries. Must have!!!

Incredibly well done. The writing, narration, story flow, and of course the quality of the HD video...simply amazing. This could be some of the best overall HD content well see for years.

These are a work of art; the stories are mesmerizing and captivating. The shows actually make the world feel smaller, than what it actually is. We have so much in common yet we are all different. Even if you can travel the world and see these places, these videos give you an insight to the traditions and history of the people you cannot learn just by visiting.

Bravo Bravo!!!This is a great describtion of the Atlas series...I have seen the Brazil and China Atlas and they are visually breath taking and very informative...I cant wait to see the Australia & Italy Atlas...
